Reflections for Lent 2022

PARTICIPATION

Revd Adam Edwards, Deputy CEO of CUF shares a short reflection on the theme of Participation.

‘As we approach Holy Week and Easter we think about God’s participation in the world … we see a pattern for the church’s participation on our communities … the service of Jesus as he washes his disciples feet …the hospitality of the Last Supper… carrying the cross and sharing each other’s burdens …. How you can find Jesus in those that you serve and how may those that you serve find Jesus through you? ‘

ADAPTABILITY

David Jonathan from Grassroots and Luton Council of Faiths shares a video reflection on the theme of Adaptability.

‘In a world where people are desperately looking for hope…we need to become the challenge and change we want to see in the world today.’

HOSPITALITY

Growing Good presenter and Church of England ordinand, Lauren Simpson, shares a reflection on the theme of Hospitality.

Jesus opened up his life and his table to so many people - to the best and the worst. As Christians we are called to do the same…. Who can you invite to your table this week?

PERSEVERANCE

Alec Spencer, a trustee of the Church Urban Fund, shares a reflection on the theme of perseverance using the inspiring words of the Prayer of Romero.

We plant seeds that one day will grow … . It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.

PRESENCE

Revd Sara Barron, Executive Director of the National Estates Churches Network invites us to reflect on what it means to be present.

Lent is time of presence. A time when we are present with ourselves and with God. And a time to listen to God and hear of his mission and our part to play in it.
